A brief description of programs and strategies institution has implemented to ensure that the guidelines are followed, including a brief description of instances when the guidelines have changed purchasing behavior, if applicable:

Competitive bids help determine a supplier's opportunities for improving environmental and social business practices. Any resulting agreement or scope of work may include mutually agreed upon performance expectations and metrics based on those opportunities.

We cross-match what the Suppliers tell us in their Quarterly Business Reviews with information we can access from third-party certifiers, we collect Sustainable Purchasing Data from all Suppliers on a quarterly basis having them outline how much of their products that we purchase are ENERGYSTAR®, EPEAT™, Green Seal™, GreenGuard™, Recycled Content, and WaterSense®, we purchase over 95% of paper (both Multi-Use Office and Rest Room Papers) that has recycled content, we purchase only ENERGYSTAR® or EPEAT™ rated office equipment and computing electronics, we are now converting to energy-efficient laboratory freezers, we have take-back clauses for office equipment, large packaging materials, laboratory quality freezers and toner cartridges.
