The charter or mission statement of the committee(s) or a brief description of each committee's purview and activities:
Main Committee
Chancellor’s Campus Sustainability Committee (CSC)
The Chancellor’s Campus Sustainability Committee (CSC) fosters partnerships between entities within and external to the campus to create an environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable future for all. The CSC sets locally adapted goals based on community feedback, brings attention to local and UC systemwide goals, and tracks and reports progress on those goals. This includes ensuring that the whole community of students, staff, faculty, and off-campus community partners are engaged in achieving this vision collaboratively.
Other Committees
Sustainability Transportation Committee (STC)
The Sustainable Transportation Committee (STC) provides recommendations to the Chancellor on the best ways to increase alternative commute modes for faculty, staff, and students, such as the use of flexible schedules, telecommuting, proximal housing, walking, bicycling, carpooling, vanpooling, and rail.
Food Security and Basic Needs Taskforce
The Food Security & Basic Needs Taskforce is the steering committee which oversees campus efforts to reduce food and housing insecurity among UCSB students and increase access to basic needs more broadly. In this capacity, the taskforce works to increase communication and collaboration between campus departments and divisions, services, student organizations, and off-campus partners in addressing basic needs. This taskforce is an advisory body to the Chancellor and the Office of Budget and Planning on issues of basic needs and rapid rehousing. Areas of advice include future visioning and prioritization on basic needs, identifying emerging needs as they arise, best practices in addressing basic needs, opportunities to expand key programs such as CalFresh, and stakeholder consultation. The taskforce provides oversight for the state basic needs and rapid rehousing funds allocated to UCSB. This group is also responsible for tracking metrics on the success of food security and basic needs efforts and providing reports as needed to the legislature.
Waste and Procurement Committee
