A brief description of the institution’s wellness and/or employee assistance program(s):
UCSB has two separate wellness programs available to all students, Student Health and Counseling And Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS).
UCSB’s Student Health promotes physical and psychological well-being, offers healthcare services that treat illnesses, and enables students to have a healthy and successful University experience. The mental health team helps students get their emotional needs met through assessment, treatment, and connection to various campus and community services/providers. Student Health provides social work services, treatment and/or counseling through the Alcohol and Drug Program, psychiatric services, and nutrition and eating disorder support. http://studenthealth.sa.ucsb.edu/.
CAPS is committed to providing timely, culturally appropriate, and effective mental health services to our diverse UCSB student body, as well as professional consultation to faculty, staff, and families. All registered students are eligible for services at CAPS. When help is needed in sorting out a personal concern, CAPS is a resource for learning new skills in building self-confidence, relating to others, reducing stress, solving problems, and identifying options. http://caps.sa.ucsb.edu/ A full list of services can be found here: https://caps.sa.ucsb.edu/services/overview-of-services.
For staff and faculty, UCSB has The Academic & Staff Assistance Program (ASAP) to support wellness. ASAP counselors promote the emotional health and well-being of academic personnel, faculty, staff, and eligible family members in a confidential, cost-free setting. ASAP offers a variety of services that fall under the following categories: consultation, counseling, threat assessment and management, and psychological wellness education. https://www.hr.ucsb.edu/asap
