A brief description of the institution’s formal community partnership to advance sustainability:

The COVID Response for the IV Houseless Community Coalition was formed after COVID broke out to bring together service providers and organizations working with the houseless community to coordinate services and resources. UCSB Sustainability helped to form this coalition and facilitates its weekly meetings. UCSB Sustainability decided to form this coalition because we were seeing a need through our two garden projects in Isla Vista, the St.Michael's Community Garden and the Methodist Community Garden. The Methodist Community Garden is home to an encampment of 5 individuals and the St. Michael's Church hosts several outreach services to the houseless community which our garden engages with.
