A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation :
Incoming freshmen have the opportunity to participate in a well-publicized sustainability presentation. The presentation (approx. 40 min) includes information about on-campus organizations that deal with sustainability, efforts at UCSB related to sustainability, sustainability-related courses, and internship and research opportunities related to sustainability.
Incoming transfers complete an in-person orientation session on campus before beginning classes. At each of the four sessions offered for transfers, the Food Security Task Force set up tabling available to all transfers to describe resources and ways to access healthy sustainable food. Introduction to UCSB courses were also offered to new transfers that gave 8 campus tours of food security resources.
Graduate students within the Geography and the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management attended orientation in which the Food Security Taskforce presented on food security resources

The above data is taken from Fall 2019. The numerator is the total number of incoming freshman undergraduates, incoming transfers, and incoming graduate students of the Bren and Geography programs. The total number of incoming international students was subtracted from the numerator value. The denominator is the total number of incoming students (including freshman, transfer, graduate, and international students).
We currently do not have programs or activities that target incoming international students.
