A brief description of the cultural competence trainings and activities:
UCSB has many student groups, academic programs, and campus organizations whose main purpose is to outreach to the campus community to educate students about different cultures and encourage diversity.
Office of Student Life offers a leadership certificate program which includes diversity awareness as a key part of the training: http://leadership.sa.ucsb.edu/certification/index.html (levels 1 and 2 include opportunities to receive added credit for courses related to diversity awareness)
Students can also participate in a wide variety of optional diversity events: http://diversity.evc.ucsb.edu/events/
