A brief description of the technology employed:
UCSB has utilized Waterless, Falcon, and other brands of waterless urinals. These have become a campus standard. All housing facilities now have waterless urinals, and all new construction projects are required to include them. Last year, renovations to Harder Stadium included the conversion of all existing urinals to waterless units.

We are continuing to study the effects waterless urinals have on the background piping in buildings. If the waterless urinals are not installed down-stream of sinks or toilets, we've noticed build-up in the lines which requires additional maintenance. As a secondary option, we are testing low-flow urinal flush valves.
