A brief description of programs, policies, infrastructure investments, outreach efforts, and/or other factors that contributed to the diversion rate:
Recycling on the UCSB campus is a partnership between Facilities Management and Associated Students (AS) Recycling. In 2010, we extended our recycling system to include additional in-building co-mingled bins partnered with landfill bins. AS Recycling provides 3 bins in the lobbies of most buildings to collect different types of e-waste. Outside, we have 89 Birthas (4 hole collection bins for landfill, co-mingled recyclables, office pack, and compost - currently being piloted in the 4th hole).
