A brief description of the policy:
This credit applies to all institutions located in communities that have not prohibited idling and requires the institution to adopt a policy prohibiting idling. The State of California prohibits diesel idling, but UCSB has gone further and implemented a similar policy that prohibits idling for all vehicles, thus meeting the criteria. This policy includes the prohibition of vehicle idling for more than five minutes on UCSB’s campus by UCSB agents or UCSB personnel unless one of the following exceptions is met: idling necessary for car’s benefit as provided by the manufacturer, idling in an emergency situation, idling is necessary to test functionality and safety of vehicle. Further information regarding UCSB’s current idling policy may be accessed at the accompanying link.
