A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the inventory:
We used a variety of methods to develop our list of researchers. Our first step was to do a keyword search on the Office of Research's database of funded projects. This search tool is now online and available to the public: http:\\pivot.cos.com
We also reviewed departmental and faculty websites, targeting most heavily departments that we identified during the keyword search or that we had heard about through other means. As the effort was led by a diverse faculty group, we were easily able to build off of existing knowledge.
Lastly, we asked the chair of the Academic Senate Sustainability Work Group and our full membership of the Work Group to give us feedback on faculty we might have missed.
