WELLNESS PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS 

  • Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) (https://caps.ucsd.edu/) offers an array of services to students and is accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services (IACS). The following integrative and student-centered services are designed to support students towards their academic success and personal development and well-being while at UC San Diego: 

    • High quality, culturally-sensitive, and confidential counseling services, including individual, couples, family and group counseling, crisis/urgent care interventions, and referral service free of charge.

    • Psychiatric services and consultation.

    • Psycho-educational workshops and drop-in forums grounded on the latest science of optimal well-being and peak performance to support students in their life and leadership skills acquisition.

    • A Wellness Peer Education Program, nationally recognized as a model of best practice for empowering students to develop leadership and helping skills.

    • Campus mental health and prevention programming focused on stigma-discrimination reduction and community-building.

    • Student mentoring and advocacy.

    • Outreach and consultation services to faculty, staff and University administrators.

    • An APPIC-approved post-doctoral fellowship training program. 

 

  • Health Promotion Services (https://healthpromotion.ucsd.edu/) provides a variety of services that help enhance and maintain the health of UC San Diego students. The following are services provided by Health Promotion Services:  

    • Resilience Lab: Resilience in the Making (RITM) is an innovative, empirically based resilience program that adopts a holistic approach in strengthening resilience.

    • The Condom Concierge: Submit a request for free safer sex supplies.

    • Substance Use Education: Assist students in examining their drinking and other drug-use behavior in a judgment-free environment.

    • Smoking/Vaping Cessation: Free smoking and/or vaping cessation coaching sessions to all students.

    • Health Coaching: 45-minute coaching sessions with health educators to support overall health, as well as personal and academic success.

    • Sexual Health Education: Sessions include a variety of sexual health related topics such as an overview of birth control options, STIs and HIV information and prevention, and more.

    • Naloxone Distribution Project: Strips are free to pick-up at the Student Health Services building. 

 

  • The Zone is operated and managed by Health Promotion Services. The Zone is a lounge for student well-being designed to promote healthy, balanced living to students. The Zone works to support students within the 8 Dimensions of Wellness and offers free programs such as: 

    • Art & Soul

    • Career Development

    • Financial Literacy

    • Healthy Cooking Demos

    • Active Well-being

    • Tea Time

    • Therapy Fluffies

 

  • Student Health Services (https://studenthealth.ucsd.edu/) provides quality medical services to meet the diverse needs of UC San Diego students including primary care, urgent care, women’s health, sports medicine, transgender care, behavioral health, travel care, nurses clinic and optometry. Laboratory, pharmacy, and x-ray services are available on-site to facilitate the care of students. 

 

  • Student Health and Well-being Administration Administration (https://studentwellbeing.ucsd.edu/ ) provides insurance, clinical billing and medical record support for students and the business, financial, data analytic and human resource infrastructure services for the Student Health and Well-Being cluster, collections, facilities and space. 

  • Willo Student Well-being App (https://willo.ucsd.edu/): Willo is designed to meet the wellness needs of enrolled UC San Diego students. Developed with funding from the State of California and in collaboration with the Jacobs Center for Health Innovation and UC San Diego students, Willo integrates the university's extensive mental health and wellness services into one intuitive app.

  

WELLNESS PROGRAMS FOR STAFF AND FACULTY 

  • The UC San Diego Employee Wellness program (wellness.ucsd.edu) includes resources, programs, and events that are (mostly all) free to UC San Diego staff and faculty. Some of these programs include: Lactation, Diabetes Prevention Program, Move Right UCSD, WorkStrong, Wellness Ambassador Program, and Get Up Tritons. Employee Wellness also partners with many campus departments, such as HR and the Staff Association, to collaborate and share resources and information for employees.   

  • UC San Diego has an Employee Assistance Program, called Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP)(https://blink.ucsd.edu/HR/services/support/counseling/index.html), which offers a variety of services and resources to help individuals and departments with a range of issues, including trauma recovery, wellness, counseling, referrals, grief and violence. FSAP offers confidential services to the following UC San Diego campus members: 

    • Campus Academic Personnel: All staff, faculty, academic appointees, professors, lecturers, project and research scientists.

    • Campus Academic and Administrative Leadership Officials: All associate chancellors, assistant and associate vice chancellors, deans, department business officers, department chairs, directors, managers, principal investigators, provosts, unit/department heads and vice chancellors.

    • Campus Staff: All full-time, part-time, temporary and some contract employees.

    • Postdoctoral and Visiting Scholars: All campus and UC San Diego Health Postdoctoral and Visiting Scholars.

    • UC San Diego Emeriti Faculty and Retirees: All retirees are eligible, regardless of their department/vice chancellor area during employment.
