UC San Diego participates in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification program of the U.S. Green Building Council. In 2023, the UC Sustainable Practices Policy updated the minimum requirement to LEED Gold or better for all UC campuses based upon recommendations from the Green Building Working Group and the Sustainable Steering Committee.
