A brief description of the institution’s Fair Trade initiatives, including the year formal designation was achieved and/or renewed:
UC San Diego signed on to be a Fair Trade University in the spring of 2010. UC San Diego Housing/Dining/Hospitality has commit to purchasing Fair Trade coffee, tea, sugar, chocolate, ice cream, and grains. Campus student organizations have already made the switch to Fair Trade Products, and many campus vendors also starting purchasing Fair Trade.
