A brief description of the institution’s main campus and other aspects of the institutional boundary used to complete this report:

Located on nearly 1,110 scenic acres in Inland Southern California and distinguished by more than 60 years of high-impact research, the University of California, Riverside (UCR) is a living laboratory for the exploration of issues critical to growing communities. One of the most diverse, inclusive institutions within the prestigious 10 campus University of California system, UCR serves as an incubator of new knowledge, an engine of social mobility, and an economic powerhouse.

UCR’s three colleges offer a wide range of academic and research subjects: The Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering, with nine departments; The College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, with 20 departments; and the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, with 13 departments. We are home to four professional schools: School of Business, Graduate School of Education, School of Medicine, and School of Public Policy, as well as 23 interdisciplinary research centers.

Currently home to approximately 26,000 students and 800 institutional faculty, the campus is rapidly expanding. To support the addition of hundreds of new faculty and students, the first of two Multidisciplinary Research Buildings is already under construction. New campus student housing, dining, retail, and recreational facilities will be added in the next few years.

UCR is also within easy driving distance of dozens of major cultural and recreations sites, as well as desert, mountain, and coastal destinations.

Which of the following features are present on campus and which are included within the institutional boundary?:
Present? Included?
Agricultural school Yes Yes
Medical school Yes Yes
Other professional school with labs or clinics (e.g. dental, nursing, pharmacy, public health, veterinary) No No
Museum Yes Yes
Satellite campus Yes Yes
Farm larger than 2 hectares or 5 acres Yes Yes
Agricultural experiment station larger than 2 hectares or 5 acres Yes Yes
Hospital No No

The rationale for excluding any features that are present from the institutional boundary:

The institutional boundary follows the boundary set for our Long Range Development Plan for 2035 that is currently underway and set to be completed in 2021. The only exclusion is the USDA Salinity Lab as the facility is leased.
