UCR takes pride in earning the Tree Campus Higher Education designation through the Arbor Day Foundation for the year 2020. The designation affirms that the campus has made sufficient efforts to preserve and protect its urban forest.
The Arbor Day website updates the list of schools annually in June. UCR is not on the publicized list as of March 2021 but expects to be recognized in June 2021.
