A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome :
In 2014 UCR participated in the Cool City Challenge, partnering with the City of Riverside, documenting personal carbon emissions from energy usage and transportation and promoting behavior changes to reduce the City's carbon emissions. Due UCR's participation, Riverside won the title of Coolest City in California in 2014. In 2015 the University of California redesigned the Cool City Challenge to make it more relevant for a campus to campus challenge. For 10 weeks all of the UC campuses, Lawrence Berkeley National Lab and the Office of President competed against each other to see how many pledges, activities and campus engagement moments they could document and perform.
