A brief description of how the employee educators are selected (1st program):
The green lab program targets employees who work in the field of science or who are in contact with people working in laboratory. They can be post-docs, lab managers, administrative assistants and procurement assistants. After meeting with the Green Lab Coordinator, they can become an "eco-leader" and promote sustainability actions to their co-workers as well as ensure that sustainable initiatives are maintain once implemented.

A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive (1st program):
The green lab coordinator meets with the employees, often by one-on-one meeting, to discuss the goal of the green lab program and how they can incorporate sustainability into their job. This may include encouraging the procurement of energy efficient equipment; helping the implementation of recycling in laboratory and other space in the building, implementing a campaign to turn equipment and light off in the lab.

The green lab program has funding to award and recognize the eco-leader, as well as supporting a FTE in charge of this program. It also has financial incentive to support sustainable procurement.
