A brief description of programs, policies, infrastructure investments, outreach efforts, and/or other factors that contributed to the diversion rate:
UC Sustainable Practices Policy set goals for 75% diversion by 2012. UCR uses interns provided by the Green Campus Action Plan to engage students in sustainable practices, as well as participating in the annual RecycleMania competition. A new transfer station is being prepared to handle and track waste at the building level.
