A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome :
Students under the leadership of UCR's Sustainable Garden Manager are building a classroom and workspace from local renewable materials. The earthern structure will use no carbon based fuels in its construction nor in its operations. Students are learning proper sustainable building techniques that they will use to construct their classroom and a composting toilet building for use in the Sustainable Garden. The building will serve as a shelter and as a living laboratory for education and research on campus.
