Campus climate, diversity and equity questions are included in the University of California Undergraduate Experience Survey (UCUES) and are analyzed at the campus level. Topics of questions include: respect regardless of social class, gender, race, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, and disabilities. The survey is conducted every even numbered year with all undergraduates on campus.

Results are summarized at the campus level and used by the University of California Office of the President (UCOP) to track changes over time and develop initiatives focused on specific areas of need. UC Merced, as a young campus (opened in 2005) has not yet been identified as needing issues addressed specifically at this time.
