We collect a spring student survey every year. In 2019 we conducted the survey in May. We used a 20% random sample and received back 2,400 responses which represents roughly 5% of the entire student population.

A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about employee commuting:
We conduct an annual survey pursuant to AQMD standards. We take a 10% random sample of the employee population and collect responses until we achieve a roughly 90% survey response rate. The survey is typically conducted in the spring quarter, the same quarter as the student survey. For 2018 it was the week of April 9th.
