A brief description of the institution’s formal community partnership to advance sustainability:
The UCLA Luskin Center for Innovation (LCI) has teamed up with Edison International, and Southern California Edison to develop a roadmap for the creation of a wide array of fit-for-purpose and supportive curricula. LCI is also contracted by the California Air Resources Board to further expand opportunities for low and moderate income households to participate in California's transition to a cleaner transportation future. This work will identify how existing state programs can overcome obstacles to lower-income households obtaining and driving ZEVs, and provide a roadmap for other parts of the state to implement the EFMP Plus-Up or similar programs.
The Advanced Transportation Program supports the transition to electric-drive, alternative-fuel, and autonomous vehicles through innovative research and decision support. Efforts include:
Helping to improve clean transportation access for disadvantaged communities.
Designing clean vehicle incentives and other state policies.
Advancing plug-in electric vehicle readiness.
Analyzing electric vehicle market dynamics.
Developing curriculum for an electrified transportation workforce.
Informing the roll-out of emerging innovations including autonomous vehicles, EV ride sharing, and grid energy storage/battery secondary use.

Additional:
The Luskin Center for Innovation unites the intellectual capital of UCLA with forward-looking civic leaders to address the most pressing issues confronting our community, nation and world. As one of the world’s leading research universities located in one of the world’s most dynamic metropolitan regions, UCLA has an opportunity, indeed a responsibility, to create a new model of “problem solving” to permanently alter how scholarship impacts society. Working closely with elected officials, non-profit, community and business leaders, the Luskin Center for Innovation will address the problem of environmental sustainability in Los Angeles through a mixture of scholarship, research and community engagement.
