Zero Waste UCLA Roll-out

A brief description of the employee educators program (1st program):

As part of its Zero Waste initiative, UCLA is rolling out a new platform for buildings choosing to be early adopters. The program includes new containers/signage, shifting waste disposal to central stations in the the building and the identification an individual or team within the department to support education and engagement in the program. Participant training includes an overview of UCLA's sustainability goals, and how zero waste insects with the other goals. It also provides specific training regarding waste streams, sorting, tools, resources and reduction strategies. The engagement leads then work with building occupants.


A brief description of the employee educators program’s target audience (1st program):

Building occupants on the main campus - faculty, staff and students, excludes the Health System.
All departments on the main campus are eligible for the program. Program overview's are provided to Building Coordinators from all campus departments. Materials are shared with them to forward to Building occupants. As Departments are brought onto the program, personnel from those Departments are designated to facilitate engagement, providing weekly updates to their building occupants.
