The Council of Diversity and Inclusion (CODI), chaired by Vice Provost Christine Littleton, has a primary goal of identifying and addressing campus climate issues. The Council is comprised of a diverse group with representation from faculty, staff, students, alumni, as well as senior level administrators. In addition to working to ensure a safe and welcoming environment, CODI maintains a focus on promoting the UCLA Principles of Community to all members of the Bruin community. Academic leadership on campus is focused on increasing and supporting diversity among students, faculty and staff through the work of the Council on Diversity & Inclusion, which is currently working on refining UCLA's strategic plan for diversity to assure accountability and methods of assessing progress. A brief description of the diversity office:
Vice Provost Christine Littleton is the the Vice Provost of Diversity and Faculty Development. This title has broadened her responsibilities to include a coordinating role for communication regarding campus diversity issues. Additional link for diversity and equity office: www.faculty.diversity.ucla.edu/ Note: Regarding the number of people employed in the diversity office, because diversity duties are decentralized on the UCLA campus, the workforce is located in many different areas on campus. While Vice Provost Christine Littleton has a staff of 5 people who work primarily on Faculty Diversity issues and programs, other diversity work is handled by Campus Human Resources, Student Affairs, Graduate Division and various schools.
