A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation (including how multiple dimensions of sustainability are addressed):
UCI’s new employee orientation for the on-boarding of all new employees is conducted on-line. Key resources needed for new employees is contained in an on-line portal and all new employees are directed to review the resources provided in the portal as part of their orientation. The link to “Sustainability Resources for Faculty and Staff” is an important feature of this portal, providing direct access to essential resources covering the social, environmental, and economic dimensions of sustainability. These resources include information about sustainable campus dining and transportation opportunities, waste minimization and recycling programs, sustainable purchasing techniques, and how to incorporate sustainable practices into the classroom, lab, and office. As a result of UCI’s on-line orientation portal, all new employees are provided with an introduction to UCI’s sustainability programs.
Access to UCI’s new employee orientation resource website is for campus employees only and reequires a campus login and password.
