A brief description of the cultural competence trainings and activities:
Workshops are designed to foster the acquisition of cultural competency skills and may include dissemination of cultural and historical knowledge, exploration of values, participation in communication and teambuilding exercises, and analysis of scenarios. Programs include the Diversity Development Program, Diversity in Medicine course, Orientation & Professional Training program (targeted to limited-English proficient employees), Workplace Spanish course, Campus Conversations Series, Equal Opportunity and Your Role as a Supervisor, and tailored trainings requested by departments. OEOD also occasionally sponsors a diversity awareness/conflict resolution interactive theatre program.
Faculty, management, team leaders, and all levels of professional and support staff at the UCI campus and Medical Center are invited to participate in the training programs offered by the Office of Equal Opportunity & Diversity (OEOD).
