A brief description of the program or practice:
The campus landscape management plan, the Green and Gold Plan, includes four goals, one of which is to "develop a landscape that is sustainable and provides for long-term conservation of resources: energy, water, labor, and reduced production of green waste." In order to meet this goal, the plan further specifies the use of native and other environmentally suitable plant materials. Beyond the use of natives, or other drought tolerant plants, the campus also seeks diversity in species and age to ensure the health of the campus’s urban forest.
