A brief description of the plan of action to achieve water use reduction goals:
UC Irvine continues to implement projects that will meet the goal of reducing water use to 15% below 2007 levels as stated in the Climate Action Plan (http://www.sustainability.uci.edu/ClimateActionPlan.html). In 2011, Housing launched a pilot project to replace toilets, showerheads, and faucet aerators with new-to-market technology designed to cut water usage by 50%. In addition, a campus-wide restroom audit was completed in 2011, and in 2012 a project to retrofit or replace all fixtures installed prior to 1990 was funded and is underway at this time. UC Irvine will not only meet the Climate Action Plan goal with these projects but will exceed the water-saving requirements.
