UC Davis FPS Trinchero - LEED Gold

The Policy covers key performance categories in green building rating systems on existing building operations and maintenance such as energy efficiency, renewable energy, sustainable transportation, solid waste management, water efficiency, materials & resources and building operations & maintenance. The following are some of the policy clauses from the UC Policy on Sustainable Practices:
- Energy Efficiency - Implement energy efficiency actions in buildings and infrastructure systems to reduce the location’s energy use intensity by an average of least 2 percent annually.
- On-campus Combustion - By 2025, at least 40% of the natural gas combusted on-site will be biogas.
- Off-campus Clean Electricity - By 2025, obtain 100% clean electricity
- Sustainable Transportation – Implement transportation programs and GHG emission reduction strategies that reduce the environmental impacts from commuting, fleet and business air travel; By 2025, zero emission vehicles or hybrid vehicles shall account for at least 50%of all new light-duty vehicle acquisitions; By 2025, each location shall strive to have at least 4.5% of commuter vehicles be ZEV.
- Zero Waste - Prioritize waste reduction in the following order: reduce, reuse, and then recycle and compost; Support the integration of waste, climate and other sustainability goals through the promotion of a circular economy and the management of organic waste to promote atmospheric carbon reduction; Reduce waste generation by 25% per capita from FY2015/16 levels by 2025.
- Water Efficiency - Strive to reduce potable water used for irrigation by converting to recycled water, implementing efficient irrigation systems, drought tolerant planting selections, and/or by removing turf; Develop and maintain a Water Action Plan that identifies long term strategies for achieving sustainable water systems.
- Materials & Resources - Remove harmful chemicals from products brought onto campus by increasing the purchase of products and materials that disclose known hazards and choosing products with reduced concentrations of chemical contaminants that can damage air quality, human health, productivity and the environment.
- Sustainable Building Operations - Seek to certify as many buildings as possible through the LEED-O+M rating system, within budgetary constraints and eligibility limitations.
