A brief description of the methodology or tool used to calculate the institution’s nitrogen footprint:

UC Davis uses SIMAP (Sustainability Indicator Management & Analysis Platform) to calculate its nitrogen footprint. The program is a simple, comprehensive, & affordable online tool for measuring, calculating, and reporting an institution’s nitrogen footprint. We input data from our greenhouse gas inventory, as well as additional scope 3 data such as commuting and food consumption.
