A brief description of the IPM plan(s) :
UC Davis utilizes a tiered approach to pest management on campus. The first tier of pest management is habitat control. This is accomplished by ensuring buildings are well maintained, with regular cleaning and routine clearing of vegetation around buildings to stop nesting of pests. Native and adaptive plantings are utilized to keep maintenance and chemical sprays for pests to a minimum. Also, UC Davis utilizes caution on selecting chemical controls. Chemicals are used as a last resort when dealing with pests. If possible, traps, catch and release, cleaning and other non-chemical methods are utilized. If chemicals must be utilized, the least hazardous chemicals that provide the best results are chosen and occupants are notified in advance of application.
