UC Berkeley floor area is "Operated and maintained in accordance with a multi-attribute sustainable management policy/program, but not certified." It is operated and maintained in compliance with UC Policy on Sustainable Practices. The Policy covers expected performance under categories including energy efficiency, renewable energy, sustainable transportation, waste management, water conservation and reuse, supply practices and building and lab operations & maintenance. Chou Hall, one of Berkeley's newest buildings is certified Platinum under USGBC True and Certified under USGBC WELL, both of which provide specific zero waste and health operations and maintenance parameters in addition to those prescribed by UC policy.

Additionally, the Berkeley campus maintains other guidance related to sustainable operations and maintenance including a green cleaning policy, zero waste practices, and integrated pest management. The campus Sustainability Plan also outlines campus strategies for enhancing environmental performance. http://sustainability.berkeley.edu
