The University of Calgary's Employee and Family Assistance Program, Homewood Health, provides confidential 24/7 service available at no cost to benefit to eligible University of Calgary employees and their immediate family. Homewood Health is a benefit which provides information, advice and resources to help employees manage their work and personal life. University of Calgary employees can access these services once granted a UCID number. The SU Wellness Centre demonstrates that the university is engaged in creating a healthy campus community, which is about working collaboratively to create a campus environment where students, faculty and staff feel empowered to support each other and participate actively in maintaining their own health and wellbeing. With a student-centered approach, we offer comprehensive, holistic and accessible programs and services to foster all dimensions of wellness including health services and counselling.

Excellence Canada Mental Health at Work Bronze Level Certification
Mental Health at Work recognizes Canadian organizations for outstanding policies, strategies, practices and results in supporting and promoting mental health in the workplace. Bronze level recipients demonstrate a clear commitment to a long-term strategic focus on mental health.

Mental Health at Work is a progressive four-level certification process (bronze, silver, gold and platinum) that guides Canadian organizations through an implementation framework of the National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace to address mental health and mental illness in the workplace.

Some of the university’s workplace mental health strengths highlighted by Excellence Canada included:
• Commitment to enhancing the worklife of faculty and staff
• Comprehensive and holistic mental health and wellbeing programs and initiatives
• Sponsorship from senior leadership

WorldatWork Seal of Distinction
The WorldatWork award recognizes diverse employers across North America that demonstrate innovative leadership in workforce engagement, and provide programs to enrich the lives of employees. This significant achievement demonstrates the university’s successful efforts to help faculty and staff balance the diverse responsibilities associated with work, academic and personal life.

As a 2016 seal recipient, the university is praised for its worklife programs, policies and practices including dependent care, health and wellness, workplace flexibility, financial support and education, paid and unpaid time off, community involvement, and workforce experience/engagement.
