A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:
University of Calgary retains the Hay Group for our engagement survey. This survey is conducted every two years. There are over 130 questions divided into engagement and enablement factors. We receive detailed analysis of the results according to faculty/unit, staffing group and other metrics. For more information: http://www.ucalgary.ca/hr/files/hr/model-for-engagement-survey.pdf

A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation (including examples from the previous three years):
The President reviews all comments. The results are shared with all faculty and staff. Each Senior Leadership team member is responsible for presenting the results for his/her faculty/unit at a Town Hall meeting and developing an engagement action plan. These plans are monitored by our Executive Leadership Team for follow up and implementation results. Employee engagement and satisfaction is one of the university’s top priorities. Both the President and each of the Vice-Presidents report annually on progress in engagement and satisfaction in their units.
