A brief description of programs, policies, infrastructure investments, outreach efforts, and/or other factors that contributed to the diversion rate for construction and demolition waste:

Since 2012, the University of Calgary has operated a Construction, Renovation and Demolition Waste Diversion Program. The integrated waste management program was a turnkey program to improve waste and diversion collection and data management by stream lining the process through our current Resource Management partner Waste Management. All UCalgary construction projects have a site assessment with our WM Account Manager. The University of Calgary Project Manager and the Waste Management Account Manager determine if the project diversion will occur in a comingled system or by source separation. All data is provided by the WM contractor to the University through the ARCHIBUS database ensuring consistent, reliable reporting.
