A brief description of the institution’s employee community service initiatives:
Faculty and Staff of the university are encouraged to serve the community through flexible working hours and options to take voluntary leave. The diversity of initiatives that employees are involved in range from chairing City of Calgary advisory boards to volunteering for education initiatives in Sudan. Employee contributions to communities locally and internationally are frequently recognized in the university's daily news outlet, UToday. During the Fort McMurray wildfire, the university housed 1,390 displaced residents from the area. Over 21 university departments, faculties and campus organizations coordinated to provide assistance and programming to evacuees.
