The learning outcome data listed above is based on the number of graduates in the 2015-16 academic year that graduated having taken and passed a minimum of one sustainability-focused course as part of their degree. In the 15/16 year, there were a total of 6566 graduates total, and 2222 of these met the above listed criteria. The figures reported include both graduate and undergraduate students.

Sustainability focused-courses were defined as those that concentrate on the concept of sustainability, including its social, economic, and environmental dimensions, or examine an issue or topic using sustainability as a lens. Sustainability in this context was defined using the principles outlined in the Earth Charter (2000): The Earth (respect and care for the community of life); The Global Situation (ecological integrity); The Challenges Ahead (social and economic justice); and Universal Responsibility (democracy, nonviolence, and peace).
