A brief description of the post-consumer food waste composting program:
Post-consumer food waste is composted in an in-vessel composter called the "Earth Tub". The Earth Tub can process up to 18 tonnes of organics annually and the compost produced is used as fertilizer for U of C grounds. As part of the new recycling and waste infrastructure, the University of Calgary is rolling out new organics bins in order to increase post-consumer food waste collection.
