While it is the University’s intent, and generally a stated requirement within computer-based competitive tenders, to purchase equipment that meets/exceeds standard certifications there is not an institution-wide published (stated) directive or guideline document.
A working committee – Information Technology Procurement Advisory Committee (ITPAC) – was formed and held its inaugural meeting February 20, 2012; scheduled to meet on a quarterly basis.
Additionally, this has been identified as a defined metric in the Payment & Procurement Services Sustainability Framework 2014-2017, stating the following goal for Office Equipment and IT to "Maximize energy efficiency, recovered material content and environmentally preferable products for purchases of electronic office equipment, computers and peripherals (i.e. establish purchasing standards such as EPEAT and ‘ENERGY STAR Most Efficient’)."
