A brief description of the child care program, policy, or practice:
UBC Child Care Services operates licensed group care for children infants to school age as well as a preschool program and independent kindergarten. The mission of UBC Child Care Services is to provide exemplary child care services to families accessing the University of British Columbia. Child Care Services is an ancillary operation within the department of Student Housing and Hospitality Services at UBC and all programs are located on the UBC Point Grey Campus. The University subsidizes the operation of the service approximately $1500.00 per child per annum. UBC currently has 527 spaces of licensed child care with plans to add an additional 37 spaces in 2011/12. To assist in addressing accessibility issues for UBC student families, the Evelyn Lett Childcare Bursary was created in 1996.
