Does the institution use non-potable water (e.g., harvested rainwater or graywater) for irrigation and/or other applications?:
Yes

A brief description of the source of non-potable water and how it is used:

UBC made early contributions to the green building industry with the C.K. Choi Building in 1996, where captured rainwater and in-site treated greywater are used for irrigation of site landscaping. Since then, other LEED certified buildings, such as the Aquatic Ecosystems Research Lab (AERL) and the Life Sciences Centre, mimic the stormwater discharge rate of its surroundings to prevent flash runoff from the sites. This controlled release of water prevents runoff levels that could erode the Point Grey cliffs.

More information about other UBC green building features is available at: http://www.sustain.ubc.ca/green-buildings.
