A brief description of the program:
UBC has a fleet of 7 Modo vehicles and 5 Zipcar vehicles.
Modo is a not-for-profit co-operative that started in 1997. Modo pays for maintenance, insurance, BCAA roadside assistance, and even gas, while members simply pay for the time and kilometres they drive.
ZipCar has five vehicles on campus for campus community members to use 24/7. ZipCar users can simply reserve one of the cars online or through the automated phone system.
Plans for 2011-13 include adding 3-7 more Modo vehicles to the carshare fleet while continuing to examine the role of carpool / vanpool in the suite of transport demand management measures available to UBC.
