Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
University of Arkansas builds America's largest mass timber building

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:

In 2019 the University of Arkansas opened the Adohi Hall mass timber residence hall, which was the UA's second mass timber building on campus. Adohi Hall (adohi meaning woods in Cherokee) was named as a tribute to the tribe members who passed by the site on the Trail of Tears. Made of cross-laminated timber (CLT), this 202,027 square-foot, 708 bed, residence hall is inspiring and pushing the boundaries on construction in the area. This construction style offers lower construction time due to offsite prefabrication and reduces the carbon footprint by tons. It has also inspired the Bentonville, AR Walmart's new headquarters to embrace mass timber for their new campus.
