A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory (including the types of faculty and staff included as researchers):
Using spreadsheets of all funded and ongoing research projects from a decade at the University, we sorted projects by primary and secondary sustainability research. Department and faculty affiliations are included in that documentation.
The inventory of sustainability research ranks projects by primary, secondary, and tertiary proximity to sustainability. Zeros represent no link to sustainability. The three tiers could all be considered sustainability research, but for internal purposes a ranking system is preferred.
