How to Adopt Green Practices in Business and Gain a Competitive Advantage
Wise companies realize that the protection of the environment is a very real concern to the general population. In fact, going green to protect the environment is viewed as the right thing to do. It is also the smart thing to do. If a business wants to attract the increasingly environmentally conscious market and gain a competitive edge, it must become known as an eco-friendly company. This course may be completed as quickly as you care to work through the subject matter. Whether you are a business owner, office manager, HR manager, business professional or “green-team” project leader who wants to know how to get started with a sustainability program, this comprehensive e-learning course will give you the results you want.
University of Arkansas requested that AASHE Staff correct a mistake in this reporting field for the reason specified below.Previous Value: Former Fayetteville mayor, Dan Coody and his wife, Deborah will share their construction materials and methods which resulted in an energy efficient home earning a negative 43 Home Energy Rating System (HERS) rating. This all solar electric home generates more power than it consumes. Tour the home and see how living comfortably at an affordable cost can be done without impacting the environment. Transportation and lunch will be on your own. Participants will meet at a central location (like Penguin Ed’s on Archibald Yell) in between the 2 sessions to share insight with the second group and ask questions of the first group.
Explanation: Updated list and brief description of continuing education opportunities at the UA.
Does the institution have at least one sustainability-themed certificate program through its continuing education or extension department?:
A brief description of the certificate program:
The U of A's Bioenergy and Sustainable Technology Graduate Certificate program is designed for working professionals who hold an undergraduate (bachelor’s) degree who want to expand their knowledge in their discipline and for students who are planning to work in this field when they graduate.
It is also intended to benefit traditional graduate programs through additional course availability. Students may take courses without pursuing the B.S.T. certificate to strengthen their plan of study in conventional graduate degree programs..
The program serves the needs of emerging “green” energy industries and provides post-baccalaureate educational opportunities for industry practitioners who do not require a full graduate degree program. Private industry actively recruits individuals with specific training in sustainability, biomass supply chain management, and sustainable energy conversion technologies.
Faculty from four institutions within the consortium, who have expertise in this discipline, teach the courses.
