A brief description of when and why the GHG emissions baseline was adopted:
The University of Arizona has set its greenhouse gas emissions baseline year as fiscal year 2015, July 1, 20214 - June 30, 2015, because this year is the most distant year with the greatest availability of relevant and reliable data.

A brief description of the institution’s GHG emissions reduction initiatives:
In 2021, UA achieved a large reduction in scope two emissions through a renewable energy partnership with Tucson Electric Power. Additionally, UA signed Second Nature's Climate Commitment to reduce carbon emissions to zero by 2050 in addition to partnering with the Tucson community to create greater climate resiliency (in 2018, the goal of 2050 was moved up to 2040). Most recently, the university is launching its Sustainability & Climate Action Plan, incorporating the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, UC3 goals, as well as areas for improvement outlined by the AASHE STARS report
