A brief description of the institution’s community garden:
The University of Arizona Community Garden was founded in 2012 by Students for Sustainability (SFS), the largest student sustainability program at the University of Arizona, and came under the full management of the Office of Sustainability in 2023. The Garden serves as a living laboratory for hands-on green learning and experiences in sustainable practices. It provides a unique meeting space on the University of Arizona campus that fosters relationship building and closer connections with nature.
The Community Garden offers Full Beds (20’x4’), 2/3 Beds (14’x4’), and ADA-accessible raised beds (roughly 2’x6’ beds) to students, university faculty and staff, and Tucson residents for rent. People who rent a garden plot receive their own designated brick-lined row, automatic drip irrigation, access to rich compost, mulch as needed, access to tools, seeds (including access to the University Seed Library), and more!
