The strategic plan discusses the need for the UA to become more efficient in how it is governed and in its consumption patterns. Additionally, the plan pushes for a greater presence of The University of Arizona in climate and sustainability research.

A key component of the strategic plan is to create an environment that is open and inviting to all people. Specifically, the strategic plan discusses ways to bring lower income individuals into higher education, increasing enrollment and financial aid, and through designing courses and resources that are open to all students.

For the University of Arizona (UA), economic sustainability is a key goal in the strategic plan. Greater collaboration between departments is being fostered to determine ways to reduce wasteful processes in business and academic operations. On securing funding, UA is seeking to diversify its funding sources to include more private donors and expansion of UA scholarship endowment.

Through development of community partnerships and collaborations, UA is promoting the economic resilience of the community. The partnerships and collaborations fostered by UA allows students and faculty to engage the community while providing valuable service and experience. Through these efforts UA increases the economic sustainability of the entire state of Arizona.
