A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the inventory:
Analysis of the research centers and departments on campus by an Office of Sustainability graduate assistant was used to create a list of research projects that compliments current listings kept by the Institute of the Environment.
Specifically, the research focus of departments and centers played a large part in determining what activities are deemed sustainability research as did the role of faculty members who both teach about and research sustainability issues.
