GREEN GOWN AWARDS 2016
Environmental Association of Universities and Colleges
The Green Gown Awards recognise exceptional sustainability initiatives being undertaken by universities and colleges across the world. The Sustainability Professional Award is open to staff that have the remit for sustainability at a tertiary education institution. It recognises people who have worked hard at pushing boundaries and are doing exemplary work.
CANADA'S GREENEST EMPLOYERS 2019-2016
Canada's Greenest Employers is an editorial competition organized by the Canada's Top 100 Employers project. This special designation recognizes the employers that lead the nation in creating a culture of environmental awareness in their organizations. These employers have developed exceptional earth-friendly initiatives – and are attracting people to their organizations because of their environmental leadership. The University of Alberta has received this award every year since 2009.

MacEwan University has an emerging sustainability program. The University of Alberta has shared program development tools with MacEwan University and have agreed to serve as peer reviewers on STARS sustainability reports.

Earth Hour Race was delivered in collaboration with MacEwan University and the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.
Sustainability Awareness Week included activities that were jointly promoted on other campuses in the Edmonton community.
The Earth Hour Campus Challenge is hosted by the Office of Sustainability and engages about a dozen campuses across the province of Alberta each year.
